Description
Remarks :
'Grass Hopper' is classic coastal survey boat. Built by Souters in Cowes in 1969, her hull is cold moulded in 5 layers of mahogany and is a typical Ray Hunt design (Off Fairey Huntsman fame) with a relatively deep V, hard chine, spray rails on the bottom and very slight reverse sheer.
The layout comprises a midships helm position with starboard wheel and port navigators position with bostrum hydraulic seats.
With only 3 owners from new, she underwent a major refit in 2007 and 2009, during which the hull was stripped to bare wood, top and bottom spray rails removed and new 1/8" Mahogany laminates worked into the hull using epoxy glues. New chine and rubbing rails in iron were also fitted.
The deck is built in epoxy-glass sheathed marine ply. The helm position is topped with a blue canvas cover on a steel frame to raise headroom.
With the family grown up the vendor is selling to return to sailing. Lying at Birdham Pool, Chichester Harbour.
