'Commitment' is a fantastic example of the robust sea-worthiness of the Ocean 60. Built by Southern Ocean Shipyard in Poole, UK. this ocean cruising schooner is equipped to go anywhere, and with the previous owners she has truly been put to the test.
Used as a charter and expedition vessel she has explored the Pacific ocean, Antarctica, Cape horn and Patagonia, comfortably and reliably coping with a wide range of weather conditions.
In 2005, she underwent a full refit, to prepare her for her extreme adventures and she has been maintained meticulously ever since.
'Commitment' is a safe, steady and reliable vessel, perfect for cruising and exploring. She is currently in New South Wales, Australia, ready for new adventures, with new owners.
This Southern Ocean Shipyard Ocean 60 is powered by a Yanmar 125hp turbo-charged diesel engine, with a 3-blade fixed propeller.
Also on board is a Kohler 6.5KVA 240v diesel generator, and three diesel cabin heaters by Webasto, Dickenson and Refleks.
She is steered by a Hydrive hydraulic steering system.
The rigging on board this Ocean 60 features two aluminium masts by Proctor (UK) and two aluminium booms by Whalespar, Australia from 2006. There are Frederickson mainsail luff slide systems on both masts, and two Furlex self-furlers fitted (300S & 400S). There are spare sheets, halyards and ropes, as well as spare turning blocks, genoa cars, pulleys etc.
The sail inventory onboard 'Commitment' includes: mainsails by North Sails, Doyle headsails, spare headsails, spare mainsail and a comprehensive sail repair kit.
'Commitment' provides accommodation for up to 10 guests within 5 cabins.
Forward is a v-berth cabin, and there are a further 4 cabins with bunk beds and 3/4 sized singles in each. Each cabin features plentiful lighting and storage space within drawers and hanging cupboards.
There are 2 bathrooms with showers onboard.
The main saloon area is open-plan with a large sofa and dining table, there is a large galley and navigation station with chart table.
The galley is well equipped with a double bowl sink, 240v fridge and freezer, and a 4-burner gas stove and oven.
This Southern Ocean Shipyards Ocean 60 is also equipped with a Quicksilver 3.3m Hypalon tender and Mercury 8hp outboard engine, both in excellent condition.
