Mount Hartman Bay Grenada [View Map] |
Due to a change in family circumstances she is sadly now for sale "as is, where is", which is in the picturesque and very sheltered Mount Hartman Bay, Grenada, Windward Islands, (Southern Caribbean)
This is a great opportunity to get a classic yacht (GRP hull) already in situ for the "Caribbean dream" or simply a Caribbean holiday base at very low cost, both in terms of investment and ongoing costs (only appx £160 (USD200) per month for mooring with caretaker if you want to take over my mooring - see below)
As a holiday home she is usable now (I spent four months onboard last year and I've just spent the last three months onboard) but she needs work to cruise, so I would describe her as a "semi project boat"; in my three-odd years of ownership I have made a lot of improvements down below and now she is set-up to be a comfortable live-aboard in a marina (I say "in a marina" as all her domestic systems are currently run off shore power)
When I use her as a floating holiday home I stay in a marina attached to a luxury hotel (just across from her usual swinging mooring) at a cost of just £450 per month (approx, billed in USD) My last three month electric bill for was under £40. Apart from the convenience of being able to use the usual marina facilities (including a very nice restaurant) you can also use the pool which is great at the end of a day sanding or painting! Obviously other options available, but local marina prices are all much in the same range.
When I'm not onboard she lives on a swinging mooring where she can remain for the new owner if required at approximately £160 per month including caretaking (by the same guy who has looked after her for me since 2021 and for previous owners for at least another six years before that).
NB: Although I use shore power all the 12v systems are in place and worked when I bought her in Oct 21, but she needs new batteries and additional solar to be able to live off-grid or to go cruising. She needs various other additions too, basically she needs someone to do what was next in my plans, which is to take her to the next stage of bringing her up to cruising scratch.
Her Grenadian cruising permit is paid until Oct 25, but renewal is dead simple, takes ten minutes at USD160 per annum. All mooring fees are up to date and will remain so (I pay monthly by Western Union - simple & cheap). My purchase Bill of Sale (through a UK broker) and past permits available.
I believe my low price fairly reflects her current usability and what needs to done given the value of these sort-after classics when in good cruising trim, especially with the amount of tools, spares and equipment onboard, and considering the Hydrovane self-steering alone is worth around £2.5k on the second-hand market and the watermaker not much less.
Viewing by arrangement (I'm in the UK but I have a local agent in Grenada (with boat keys) who can meet you at the marina and take you out to the boat.)

Removable cockpit table (my own Heath Robinson set up, but it works!)
Sprayhood & bimini, both in good condition (see pics). Bimini can stay up when sailing
Large awning which covers from the bimini to ahead of the mast - heavy duty & very functional but stained. (I was quoted £1500 for a replacement, so although tatty it's a valuable extra to have with the boat)
Further small awning to cover forecabin

XM Oscar MOB life-sling
Horseshoe lifebuoy (tatty) in cradle on pushpit

Waeco Coolmatic CF25 12/220v fridge (top opening, gets very cold), plus large traditional icebox (as fitted when built)
Two burner gimballed gas stove, but on the basis of appearance visual I would not consider it safe to use. I use a portable gas grill in the cockpit, which also keeps heat out of the cabin (there are eight spare gas canisters onboard). There is also a tatty but useable Cobb multi-function charcoal BBQ
Various galley lockers, giving plenty of storage.
Lavac sea toilet
Hanging locker behind
Shower unit & taps to washbasin (inoperative)
Cabinets above & below sink
PUR Powersurvivor 40E watermaker, believed to be in working order

TO REITERATE:
All pics are recent - how she looks in these photos is how she looks today.
She is 53yrs old and well travelled with the scars to prove it: do not expect a boat that looks like or is laid out like, a showroom fresh French cruiser
She needs work to get her into cruising trim
She can be used TODAY as a marina-based liveaboard, as described above. I know this to be the case as I have done just that for multiple months since Oct 21.
She is (as far as I am aware) the cheapest Nic35 for sale today anywhere.
The price is negotiable
