Accommodation :
The Western Star has undergone a major transformation but has none the less maintained all the toughness, strength and sea keeping capabilities that were essential to her during her fishing years. Her main fish and ice hold has been converted to accommodate 8 clients, guests, friends or family in comfort. The crew s quarters which originally slept 4 has now been converted to accommodate 2 with en-suite shower and toilet facilities. In total, there are four toilets aboard and three showers.

Safety equipment:
The vessel is equipped with all the safety equipment required to comply with the M.C.A .Class 2 Coding and all safety equipment was inspected by the M.C.A. Inspector in May 2016

Engine
To date (3rd of August 2018) the main engine is a Caterpillar 3406B and has only run for a total of 7,047 hours since it was installed new in 1999.
The on board generator comprises of a Deutz engine TD2009L04 with a Newage Stamford alternator providing 22.7kVA/kW Prime Single Phase, 230V, 50Hz, 1500rpm, 1.0pf. This generator was purchased new from AJ Powers and installed in 2010.
Fuel Consumption at 9knots (i.e.1500revs) = 43litres/hour costing 0.70 per litre, therefore ful costs per hour at 9 knots is 30.10
Fuel Consumption at 6knots (i.e.1000revs) = 29litres/hour costing 0.70 per litre, therefore ful costs per hour at 6 knots is 20.30
Fuel Capacity 6,000 litres tank using 43ltrs/hr gives a steaming capacity of 140 hrs or 5.8 days.
